This year, we’re celebrating the 43rd anniversary of Belize’s independence under the theme ‘A Nation Proud and Free: Belize @ 43!’
Belize’s National Celebrations typically kick off on August 1, on Emancipation Day, and continues throughout the month with the national Queen of the Bay Pageant and Carnival King and Queen Competition.
The most anticipated festivities happen when September rolls around, with National Flag Day on September 1st. Then, Belizeans gather on the first Saturday of the month to attend the Carnival Road March, where bands of dancers walk the city streets wearing intricately designed costumes and partygoers line the sidewalks to join in on the joyous music and dancing.
Belizeans look forward to September celebrations year-round and take advantage of any opportunity to proudly wave their flag.
